Do you know about the Alinta Assist Program?

We’ve specifically designed the Alinta Assist Program to help our customers through tough financial times. Its goal? To give you the support you need while you get back on track.

If you’re eligible, here’s what you can expect:

  • Affordable payment plans, access to government assistance programs, advice on your energy use, and more. (More on that below.)
  • Regular check-ins and adjustments. We’ll connect every three months to assess your progress and offer extra help as needed. If your circumstances have changed, we can modify your plan.

Supporting you through tough times

So, when times are tough, how can we help you make your finances more manageable? This is some of the support that our specialist Alinta Assist team provides.

1. Creating a tailored payment plan

Our team talks to people like you every day. And we’re trained to help you find ways to manage your bill payments now and in the future. 

We can create a tailored and flexible payment plan that’s based on what you can afford to pay initially. We’ll then build out a payment plan you can sustain based on the amount of energy you’re using and the amount you owe. Once you get back on track and can afford to pay your ongoing bills, you’ll become part of our Arrears Plus Payment Plan.   

2. Pausing your debt for six months

If you can’t pay an overdue bill and know you’ll struggle in the immediate future, let us know. If you’re eligible, we can pause your debt for six months. Or we can let you pay less than your ongoing usage costs until you’re back on your feet.

3. Applying for government assistance

State and federal governments have assistance for households struggling to keep up with their energy bills. We’ve collated a list of the relevant programs, concessions and rebates for your state – it’s worth checking it out to see what you’re eligible for.

4. Connecting you to a financial counsellor

Just talking about your situation can make a big difference. Financial counsellors are trained professionals who can offer practical advice, emotional support and reassurance. It can help to put your mind at ease.

Financial counselling is a free service offered by community organisations, community legal centres and some government agencies. Our team can give you a referral – or you can call the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007 or visit the government’s MoneySmart website.

5. Advice on your energy use

Small changes to your usage can have a big impact on your on-going energy costs. We can give you tips and advice that are tailored to your situation. Or we can talk you through a comprehensive energy audit. It’s all about empowering you to save on your future energy bills.
